I can't add a O365 to Outlook desktop client but I can access from the web This a weird thing, whenever I try to add in Outlook from File > Add Account I get the message "Something went wrong and Outlook couldn't set up your account". From Control Panel > Mail > Email accounts > New > Manual Setup > here I put the email and gets stuck at "Searching for... Settings" and then " An encrypted connection to your email is not available, click Next to attempt using an unencrypted connection", so I do that and get the error "We're sorry we couldn't set up your account automatically. To try setting up the account yourself click Next" which is basically the same. Everything works fine in the browser, any ideas on this?16KViews0likes8CommentsI want an alternative to Windows 11 moving forward....
I've been using Windows 10 for a ridiculously long time, I recently tried out a Windows 11 PC and the file explorer and OneDrive integration was extremely annoying. The worst part about the file explorer was that many of the functions I used on Windows 10 with the right click was hidden behind the "more options" on the right click of windows 11, which essentially opened up the Windows 10 right click menu behind it. The whole Windows 11 experience felt like a really bad skin cover up over a Windows 10 computer. The "open new desktop window" was ridiculous. I really feel like it's more difficult to be productive with windows 11. I make music with my P.C. and I edit videos, and I also browse the net. I do think it's possible that I got a fake Windows 11 PC from a refurbisher on Amazon, but if Windows 11 really was what I tried out, I definitely think there should be an alternative to Windows 11 that doesn't have so much "AI" integration. One of the simplest things I do on my Windows 10 is utilize the drag and drop function between file folders on Windows 10 to copy them between two folders, I do this by opening two instances of the file explorer, it's super nice for file management and for some reason windows 11 felt way more difficult to manage files if I remember correctly. Also, in Windows 10 there was a way to change the view of the programs or files either as icons or as a list. For some reason the file explorer in Windows 10 never remembers my options for each folder and I have to constantly change it. Like, if music files were always displayed as a list with lots of metadata, and pictures were always displayed in file explorer with medium or large icons, everything would be great. The point being, I do a lot of things manually in Windows 10, and the Windows 11 PC I tried felt like it was made for children. Only other problem I have with windows 10 is the PC options screens are needlessly complicated and hide too many setting behind underlined/highlighted text from the windows menu on the bottom left, I actually think Windows 7 had a better P.C. options screen. Basically I think there should be a alternative to Windows 11 that is a bit more "old school" for people who like to do things more manually. I'm 26, I've been using Windows 10 for over 6 years now, I've gotten a lot of creative projects done with Windows 10, Windows 11 does not appeal to me at all. Now I'm in a tough spot because I don't want to use windows 11, yet functionality support is ending for windows 10. Although one time I booted up in safe mode and it said my O.S. was Windows (R), which is weird because I always customize my desktop theme to have a dark background and Red highlights... Am I currently using a Windows 11 alternative called Windows (R)? Ok this has been a tech rant/info barrage.2.1KViews0likes2CommentsHow to search emails in shared mailboxes in Outlook 365

Hi all, since a couple of days I have to work with the ugly, annoying, awful, ... user interface in Office 365. The title bar size became horrible large. Compared with an explorer window from Win 10 it is nearly the double height. As an Office Poweruser (I'm working with the office products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook) unluckily the whole day) I'm looking for smallen the title bar again. There was a registry hack, but on my machine this isn't working anymore. Because of the ribbon interface and a lot of not needed functions this is how my Quick Access Toolbars (QAT) are looking like: Now somebody could tell my, "OK, switch the QAT to the top, so that the title bar get more sense! Problem is, that the monochrome icons are absolutly boring AND especially for Word I can't differ between my macros, which I set with different colours. The title bar is smaller because of the standard buttons and the search field, so that not all my most loved commands have space here Dragging the window can not be done with the title bar, as it was since the beginning of time. I need to find some space somewhere. Does someone have an idea to reduce the size of the title bar as it was before? Or does someone have an idea to colorize the icons, when they are inside the title bar? If I consider that the taskbar is also increasing in size, especially in WIN 11 where this isn't adjustable, both sides (top + bottom) in sum are steeling to many space. Cheers! We recently changed our conference room names and since that time, we've noticed that some of our users are seeing multiple entries for conference rooms. When the users attempt to select the room on the location tab or required tab, they are seeing duplicates of the same rooms. This is only happening when the users are selecting the room from the location tab. If they go to Room Finder, there is only one instance of the room. The issue of course is that most people just use location and do not go into Room Finder as it creates an extra step. I have looked at multiple sites on this and the solution they quote involves changing the registry, but we don't have the registry option that these solutions point out. We also don't want to have to manually do a registry change for every individual having this issue. Has anyone come across this and if so, how did you resolve it? one more thing, we are also experiencing this in Outlook web.7.9KViews1like12CommentsSleep Settings Too Complicated for MS
I have a laptop with W10. I went to power & sleep settings. I set "On battery power, turn off after" to NEVER. I set "When plugged in, turn off after" to NEVER. I set "On battery power, PC goes to sleep after" to NEVER. I set "When plugged in, PC goes to sleep after" to NEVER. ... Can anyone explain to me why my computer keeps going to sleep when I leave it, open, plugged in, untouched? Is this really too hard?14Views0likes0CommentsFile string limit check
Is there a report that can be run on Sharepoint to show file string size sorted highest to lowest? The issue we are running into is the difference between Sharepoint character limit and Windows Character limit. Out of the box they are different and Sharepoint's string limit is considerably higher. If there was a report, we could get a head of syncing issues.21Views0likes0CommentsOutlook Inbox not updating
Hello, when using the Mail & Calender App on Win 10, everything works fine. But now Windows forces me to use the new Outlook App. When using Outlook my Inbox is not updating, it shows me 2 months old mails on top of the list. Same goes for using the web version outlook.com. My inbox is not updating even though I get new mails everyday. I have to search new mails by using the search bar. I tried to do some research and found blog and forum posts about deleting the Outlook cache. I tried it, I could't find the folder so I went and deinstalled Outlook and installed the old Mail App. Everything worked fine for 2 days. I received new mails like I should. But then again I got forced to move to the new Outlook App. Now it shows me my 2 months old Mails again. What confuses me is why the web version is not working correctly too? My local cache files shouldn't have any influence on the web version. Anybody here that can help me? Thanks in advance.Solved198KViews1like13CommentsPowerPoint: Embedded video crashes while scrubbing
Hi, we have an issue with at least 4 different computer configurations where an embedded .mp4 movie in a PowerPoint presentation crashes when scrubbing in the playback bar. The problem occurs only in the edit mode of PowerPoint. There is no problem in full screen mode (after pressing F5). PowerPoint version is the latest (Microsoft PowerPoint for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2212 Build 16.0.15928.20196) 64-bit). The biggest commonality between these machines seems to be the Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics unit. It occurs regardless of the operating system (both Windows 10 and 11, latest updates). The problem does not occur when the integrated GPU is disabled via Device Manager on a laptop with an additional dedicated GPU. Intel driver as well as system drivers are up-to-date. Both Dell (manufacturer of the laptops) and Intel support (integrated GPU) were contacted, but referred to contacting Microsoft as they did not find an issue on their end. Since this is a major problem for us when editing presentations, is there any way to install an updated driver or work around the problem? Any help would be appreciated.4.1KViews2likes7Comments
