Very Frustrating that MS says Universal Print connector is available in preview but it is not
I spoke to a Microsoft tech - showed him the docs where it says Universal Print connector is in preview but it really isn't. If anyone knows a way to accomplish printing besides send to eprint or combo PAC and PAD and no third party connector, I'm all ears. Documentation below leads you to believe you can do it:lledererJun 11, 2025Copper Contributor71Views1like5CommentsHow do you implement the "Printer Technician" role?
Within the documentation, there is brief mention of the existence of the "Printer Technician" role and that it can be delegated to manage certain printers. However, I've yet to find documentation or any configuration within the Universal Print portal to actual make use of it. Where is the documentation and how do we delegate management to a "Printer Technician"?BrandonJ365Jun 03, 2025Copper Contributor43Views0likes2CommentsRicoh printer not printing jobs larger than 20Mb
New Ricoh C4510 Printer... smaller documents prints perfectly. The only information about failed job is a "Aborted" state in the universal print job list We are using the integrated Ricoh universal print connector integrated in the machine ("App for universal print" (Microsoft Universal Print Application | Ricoh USA | Ricoh USA) We have other two konica printers that can print the same print job perfectly (connected to universal print using the konica integrated app) Any help? We are currently in the process of making Universal Print available at our University. Administrative Staff and Faculty Members can already benefit from UP - especially sending print jobs while users are not connected to our core network is much appreciated. Computer for these users are managed by Intune and member of our domain. Roll-Out happened with Intune Device Configuration and is working mostly well. Our Students come with their own personal/private computer (BYOD). These devices are NOT managed by Intune and are NOT member of our Windows Domain. When they come with an Apple macOS device, they can easily install "Universal Print" from Apple App Store and are ready to got - perfect. BUT, when my students come with a Microsoft Windows computer, they cannot take advantage of UP, because UP would only work, if they login to Windows with their University M365 account. It is ridiculous, that Microsoft punish users of their own operating system harder then Apple macOS users. Have anyone found a solution for this type of scenario? I already added a feature request: Universal Print App for not Domain Joined Windows Users Best regards DanielDaniel_WedewardtMay 23, 2025Copper Contributor139Views0likes3CommentsUniversal Print queries
Some simple queries but just wanted some clarification before confirming with the customer. Connector for printers that aren't cloud ready, is it accurate that this is included in the license and there is no additional cost for this? Zebra printers with lots of different label sizes, how user friendly is this set up? Jobs to be very clear if an operator prints a label but wants 99 of that label, this is classified as one job?RJ1982May 23, 2025Copper Contributor21Views0likes0CommentsFile >Print experience from 365 web apps (other than Excel)
Are there plans to bring the same File >Print experience from the Excel web app to the other 365 web apps (e.g. Word) for printing to universal print cloud printers? Choosing the print option from Excel produces a sidebar with a drop-down selector that shows every Universal printer the user has access to. There's no need to add the printer to the host OS first. In contrast, choosing File >Print from the Word web app renders a PDF and then uses the browser's native print UI to select from a choice of local-only printers. There is no option to access cloud printers unless they've first been added to the local system. On a Windows device this is merely an inconvenience but on a ChromeOS device this means the difference between being able to print and not. There is a work around available, you can use the OneDrive web client to print a Word document. The OneDrive web client does at least offer the ability to search for (and print to) any the Universal printers you have access to, and does not first require they be configured as local printer. But the UI is objectively worse than the Excel print UI which will show you your entire list of available printers. The OneDrive web client requires that you know a portion of the device name to first perform a search for it. The Word web app doesn't even give you that option, there's no option to print to a cloud printer. The Excel print UI needs to be incorporated into any/all of the 365 web apps that support printing.GMulhernMay 19, 2025Copper Contributor118Views0likes1CommentUniversal printer says installed, but not in printer list

We deploy printers with Intune. It works well. But how do we remove a printer from a client PC after is it decommissioned and physically removed? It does not seem to be removed when not published with Intune anymore? Is a Powershell script needed to remove the Printer and corresponding Port??HenEMay 16, 2025Copper Contributor74Views0likes1CommentUniversal Print Client for IOS based devices
Is there a private preview for the Universal Print Client for IOS devices? We have rolled out the universal print to our Windows and Mac devices. With this done, I was now wanting to be able to see if there was a way to get on a private preview for testing out IOS devices with the universal print client on it.
